Forest School
Children of all ages participating in Forest Schools have shown success in the development of how to use their initiative, problem solving skills, social and emotional skills and how to cooperate with others.
Through visiting the same woodland area, the children are given the opportunity to learn about the environment using their imagination, emotions and senses. They learn the boundaries of behaviour; both physical and social and grow in self esteem and become self motivated.
Our Forest School area provides children with positive outdoor experiences through play, exploration and investigation and participation in engaging, motivating and achievable activities.
The children are taken out in small groups ranging from 6-12 class by class on a rota basis. Visiting the Forest School will give your child the opportunity throughout their time at STM to experience the outdoors at different times of year and seasons. Although activities are planned, the children take the lead in their learning with the adults there to support.
Your child’s class teacher will inform you when it is your child’s turn to visit Forest School.
